Evanston Community Agenda

The Community Agenda is presented annually by Citizens’ Greener Evanston as a call to action for Evanston community members and environmental stakeholders. The agenda reflects the intentions for mobilizing CGE volunteers and connected neighbors as they work together to achieve broad sustainability goals within the City of Evanston. And, the agenda serves as an invitation to actively participate, connect and engage with others as we strive to improve Evanston’s capacity to address environmental, economic, and social equity goals.

1. Energy Efficiency: Helping to make our homes more energy efficient.
Institutionalizing energy efficiency incentive programs in 40% of Evanston’s single-family households by the end of 2012.
2. Community Education: Expanding awareness of sustainable lifestyles. Providing educational programs that annually assist over 1,000 members of the Evanston community to lower their environmental impact.
3. Integrated Transportation: Seeking innovative approaches to transportation. Advocating for innovative, integrated community transportation plans to reduce carbon emissions associated with transportation in Evanston by 10% over the next 5 years.
4. Collaborative Community: Making us all better consumers. Promoting the economics of collaborative communities and facilitate the sharing of 1,000 household goods and services each year.
5. Renewable Energy: Finding new solutions for renewable energy.
Creating a community desire for investments in renewable energy sources, and increase solar installments in Evanston by 100% over the next 3 years.
